Head down to Deptford Market this Saturday to get all those last-minute bits and pieces you need for the Christmas season. Visit the Cod Father for your traditional Christmas Eve fish pie mix, beautiful brussel sprouts on their stems from the veggie market stall by Barclays bank, DVD and CDs from John Setford up by the Anchor, delicious homemade jams and preserves from Niamh, cupcakes from Cate’s Cakes and Amernica soul food in Douglas Square, free range eggs from Sam next to the Cod Father and so much more!

This Saturday we have a free present wrapping service next to Barclays bank (as long as the sun’s shining; if not you’ll find them in our marquee in Douglas Square), an amazing street dance performance from London Urban Arts Academy with a chance to get involved too, and a beautiful fairy atop an enormous Christmas tree from Emergency Exit Arts (EEA). EEA will also be hosting an art workshop in Deptford Lounge from 11am–1pm which is a great chance to come and get creative with some of the most talented artists in the area.

And of course our cooking demo will be on next to the Cod Father with special guest chef Niaomh Convery, the founder, photographer and all-round talent behind the Deptford Community Cookbook which is an excellent present for someone this Christmas. So come and sample some free, delicious food from 12pm.

We’ll be back next year with more events: culinary tours of Deptford market with cooking sessions; more sewing surgeries; more new traders and some exciting street theatre from the Albany, so we’ll see you then!  If anyone has any ideas for events they’d like to see then please let me know!

Merry Christmas to you all!
